Häufig geht die laienhafte vorstellung davon aus, dass die akteure bei einer film- oder fernsehproduktion, schauspieler oder komparsen mit nur kleinsten auftritten, die gesamte zeit bei den dreharbeiten zubringen. Wenn das zuträfe, wären die produktionskosten eines films noch weitaus höher, als sie ohnehin sind. Tatsächlich wird jeder beteiligte nur für die zeit engagiert, für die er oder sie auf dem set gebraucht wird. Das wichtigste dokument dafür bei dreharbeiten ist deshalb die tagesdisposition, auf englisch prägnanter call sheet.

Auf die minute genau fest gelegt ist hier, wer wann wo und mit welcher ausstattung, also garderobe bzw. anderen utensilien zu erscheinen hat. Für jeden drehtag sind die zu drehenden szenen bzw. einstellungen verzeichnet. Ebenfalls vermerkt sind der drehort, drinnen oder draußen, tag oder nacht, sowie die benötigten requisiten.

Im konkreten fall handelt es sich um das call sheet nr. 17 von den dreharbeiten zu NUMMER 6 vom 21.09.1966 (und eindeutig aus der prä-computer-ära). Der drehort war Portmeirion, außenaufnahmen für die episode "Schachmatt", hier noch mit dem arbeitstitel "The Queen's Pawn" benannt, standen an. Regisseur der episode, die nahezu zeitgleich mit "Die Ankunft" entstand, war Don Chaffey.

Unter anderem liest man hier, dass sich die truppe um 7 uhr 30 zu sammeln hatte, um sich um 8 uhr auf dem set einzufinden. Man erkennt, welche schauspieler gefordert waren, neben Patrick McGoohan Ronald Radd als "Turm" und Rosalie Crutchley als liebesmanipulierte, dass szenen am strand, mit strandzelt, und solche des schachspiels auf dem rasen sowie "tag-für-nacht"-aufnahmen auf dem Steinboot gedreht werden sollten.

Often people not familiar with film production procedures tend to assume that those involved in the making of a movie or TV film, actors and extras with a walk-on-walk-off part only, stay on the set during the whole shooting. If this was true the costs of film productions in general would be much higher than they actually are. In fact, everyone is engaged only for the period of time he or she is needed. The most important document to manage this is the call sheet.

Thus, pinned down here to the minute is as to who, when and where somebody has to show up, which clothes he/she has to wear, which props to bring. The call sheet details the scenes to be shot, the camera set-ups, also the exact location, indoor, outdoor, day or night and the props required.

In this case it's call sheet no. 17 of the PRISONER production of September 21st, 1966 (clearly from the pre-computer era). The location was Portmeirion where exterior shots for the "Checkmate" episode were taking place. This episode was then called by its working title "The Queen's Pawn". Don Chaffey was the director of the episode shot almost back-to-back with the initial "Arrival".

We read that 7:30 p.m. was the time to get together, and at 8 o'clock everyone was expected to be on set. It can also be seen that, beside Patrick McGoohan, Ronald Radd as the "rook" and Rosalie Crutchley as the manipulated love-insane woman, scenes on the beach, with the beach hut, and on the chessboard were about to be made and some day-for-night shots on the Stone Boat.
