CONTENTS
OF THIS EPISODE:
A new speed-learn technique is propagated by the anonymous Village
authorities via television: one year of learning lessons condensed
into one minute. Number Six discovers the possibility of far reaching
manipulations. "The Professor" with his supercomputer,
is he but a mere tool of Number One? Number Six asks the ultimate
question...
RANKED
16th:
After many years exchanges place with "A.
B. und C." Rather blatant concept of progress
criticism. Ideas victory over plot: despite all the Orwell
references this episode appears to have been quickly stitched together.
Even by Sixties standards the futuristic design of "artificial
intelligence" is hopelessly ridiculous. The General's defeat
is bargain-basement style. Wins over "A.
B. und C." because
of its more frequent ironic touches.
