JAMES BOND"Mein name ist Drake. John Drake." Die beiden sätze sind das bindeglied zwischen dem bekanntesten kinoagenten der welt und dem - heutzutage - nicht mehr ganz so bekannten fernsehagenten. "A View From The Villa" war 1960 der titel der ersten episode der britischen serie DANGER MAN mit Patrick McGoohan in der hauptrolle des John Drake, ein spezialagent im auftrag der NATO, dem "kitzlige" fälle übertragen wurden. Die berühmten worte am ende des vorspanns der ersten staffel halbstündiger folgen lauteten: "Mein name ist Drake. John Drake." Es war Patrick McGoohan gewesen, Großbritanniens aufstrebender fernsehstar der frühen sechziger jahre, dem man eventuell noch vor oder aber zeitgleich mit Sean Connery die rolle von James Bond angeboten hatte. Er lehnte sie, nach unterschiedlichen quellen sogar zweimal, aus moralischen beweggründen ab. Der rest ist geschichte.
James Bond, Agent 007, ist die von Ian Fleming erfundene Figur eines Geheimagenten, der für den MI6 arbeitet und 1953 im Roman "Casino Royale" den ersten Auftritt hatte. Fleming schrieb bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1964 zwölf Romane und mehrere Kurzgeschichten um Bond. Der Auftakt der offiziellen, von Eon Productions Ltd. produzierten Bond-Reihe kam 1962 unter dem Titel JAMES BOND – 007 JAGT DR. NO mit Sean Connery in der Hauptrolle in die Kinos. Consequently he was offered the role of James Bond before or perhaps simultaneously with Sean Connery. But he turned it down for moral reasons and according to different sources he did it twice. The rest, then, is history.
James Bond, code name 007, is a fictional character created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. The fictional British Secret Service agent has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, and video game formats in addition to having been used in the longest continually running and the second-highest grossing film seriesto date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond.
